Our very first BlackCreatorsinKidLit auction is launching on February 1, 2021! Our community of Black authors and illustrators are committed to sharing stories that increase Black representation across all genres of children's literature.
In six months, the BCiKL community membership has grown from 10 members to over 100! Our members have benefited both from shared knowledge from amazing industry professionals and from our supportive community of writers and illustrators. This has resulted in several book deals and multiple members of the community signing with agents.
To date, our initial growth has been independently financed by the generosity of a few core members of BlackCreatorsinKidLit for operating expenses such as community technology tools like Zoom, Slack, and the official website.
But now, we need your support to take our mission to the next level.
This year, we seek to raise a minimum of $12,000 to help assist with our goals. Just a few of our costs include:
Establishing a 501c3
Operational infrastructure costs
Providing membership scholarships
